The centre of the community

Riverside Housing's new community centre in Picton is making sure the community makes the most of regeneration.

Riverside Housing created the The Centre in Picton to provide local people with information about the Neighbourhood Renewal programme running in their area. It hosts meetings for local groups involved with the Neighbourhood Renewal programme, as well as residents and tenants groups.

It ensures that local people make the most of social and economic regeneration by linking them to services like councillors’ surgeries, employment training, financial advice, housing assistance and parenting support. Our Job Café promotion day recently attracted over 30 people for advice.

Victim Support, the local Credit Union and Liverpool City Council Detached Youth project use The Centre as a base.
An Open Day provided information on Divali and Eid to encourage cross-cultural understanding and some creative fun for young people in the form of arts workshops and circus skills.

Additional youth work and educational activity has been funded by Riverside Housing’s Community Trust and the Riverside Investment Fund.
