Junior wardens from Riverside’s Langley estate learned more about the mounted police at Hough End Centre police stables in Manchester.
Fifteen junior wardens aged six to 11 years, who are the eyes and ears of the Langley estate, joined Riverside’s neighbourhood warden supervisor Colin Whiteley on the fact-finding trip.
The award winning junior warden scheme was established in 2003. The aim is to encourage children to respect each other and their environment, to take an interest in their community and get involved in activities such as litter picking and reporting vandalism.
The mounted police visit follows last year’s trip to the Police museum in Manchester – part of a wider initiative to teach junior wardens more about the work of the force.
