Disability – the myths and reality

Coast & Country Housing held a forum bringing together local people and organizations to promote diversity.

The event, called ‘Disability – The Myths and The Reality’, promoted diversity through interactive workshops and discussion groups.  And it went down well with everyone who attended.

Redcar Opportunity Centre, one of our partners, hosted a quiz.  While local artist, Adrian Mole, led an interactive workshop to create a ‘Mandala’ - a piece of artwork using dried peas and beans (see photo).

Iain Sim, Coast and Country chief executive, said: “The event was a success.  It gave our residents the chance to meet our staff as well as learn about and exchange views with other local organisations.

“The event was about promoting diversity and inclusiveness which is a central to Coast and Country’s values and culture.

“This serious message was interwoven with interactive elements such as creating a piece of art and taking part in a quiz, which helped break down barriers and encouraged dialogue.”
