Garstang High School in Lancashire has worked in partnership with the Regenda Group to establish a fully integrated Inclusion Unit, ‘The Greenhouse’, within the school.
The Unit has become an indispensable part of how the school manages student behaviour and supports disaffected students so they are able to grow and fully achieve their potential.
Rapid improvement has been seen at the school and there has been a 440% reduction in days lost to exclusions during the period the project has been operating.
Garstang High Headteacher, Phil Birch said “The impact of our Inclusion Centre on the life of the school has been unbelievable. It enables us to make the necessary interventions at the appropriate stages in children’s lives. As a result the overwhelming majority of our students avoid anti social and disruptive behaviour, are fully engaged with their learning, love being at school and are enjoying unprecedented levels of personal success.”
The Garstang police also praised its effectiveness in reducing incidents of anti social behaviour within the community.
Andrei Szakowski, Director of Wyre Housing Association, part of the Regenda Group explained: “The results are impressive. The Unit has enabled pupils to find the support they need to help them develop positive attitudes inside and outside school.”
