Maritime Housing, part of the Regenda Group, teamed up with some real muscle to help educate youngsters about the wrongs of bullying and anti-social behaviour.
‘Big Dave’ Gauder, who has previously held the title of the World's Strongest Man, took part in an interactive event for young people in St Helens.
Dave, who was himself a victim of bullying when he was a boy, grabbed the children's attention with a spectacular bus pull – with over seventy of the young people on board.
He draws on his own experiences to deliver a strong personal message that bullying of any kind is unacceptable and that it can be overcome with inner strength, determination and self esteem.
Inspector Tim Kelly of Merseyside Police, who was also involved with the day, commented:
“This is a great opportunity to engage with youngsters from across the borough and deliver a number of messages. We want youngsters to know that they don’t have to suffer in silence if they are being bullied. Through events like these we can help the perpetrators better understand the seriousness - and potential consequences - of their actions and let victims know that they are not alone.”
