European Neighbours Day was the perfect excuse for residents at Carver Court, to invite the neighbours round for a community barbecue.
Around 30 local people joined residents of the supported housing scheme for an evening of fun and socialising, giving them the chance to spend time with their neighbours.
Tony Wells, a resident at Carver Court said “European Neighbours Day is a great idea; it gives people the chance to get to know each other better and can help make the neighbourhood a nicer place to live.”
The event was organised by Teresa Mclean and Charlotte Holley from Spire Homes. They said, “This is the second year we have taken part in Neighbours Day, with great success. We wanted to bring local people together and we were delighted that so many attended especially with the weather being so unpredictable”.
Hilda Harris, one of the neighbours who joined in said” This has been a great chance to get out and meet people, social events like this should happen more often. It’s a great opportunity to get involved with the community.”
