Residents of the Grange estate in Grimsby came together for their first free community fun day in celebration of European Neighbours’ Day. It was run by Shoreline Housing Partnership and Havelok Homes.
Young people and their families enjoyed a jam packed day of activities including refreshments, ‘Reach our European neighbours’ balloon race, face painting, a children’s entertainer, Wii, sports activities and other games.
They also met with Humberside Fire and Rescue, local Police Community Support Officers and the Neighbourhood Safety Scheme.
Claire Tunstall, a Shoreline tenant and resident support officer said: “The day brought the whole community together –all those people who see each other but don’t necessarily know one another.
“We work so closely with residents and we know that by working together and getting to know each other better, we can help one another, share ideas and experiences, develop support networks and create real communities that people are proud to be a part of. “
Shoreline also used the event to continue recruiting North East Lincolnshire residents for ‘Community Voice’ – a successful sounding board where over 1000 members have already got involved in giving their opinions, ideas and suggestions on the neighbourhoods in which they live and the services Shoreline provides.
