A group of young people from Windmill Hill in Runcorn recently enjoyed a day out in Delamere Forest arranged by Liverpool Housing Trust which has contributed to the reduction of youth nuisance and ASB in the area.
During their day out at Go Ape in Delamere forest, the young people (aged 10-18), climbed trees 50m high and swung down zip wires. The activity was a successful team building event.
The funding for this event was secured by the youth group through Liverpool Housing Trust (LHT). The group now work in partnership with us, Connexions, the Youth Federation and Halton Borough Council to develop opportunities for young people and to recruit adult volunteers in the hope of opening up a youth club in Windmill Hill.
The youth group is made up of local young people who have been meeting regularly to develop activities for the youth of Windmill Hill which will contribute to the reduction of youth nuisance.
Lali Kelly, LHT team leader, says "We have been impressed by the enthusiasm of the young people on Windmill Hill and their desire to get involved in community activities.
They are keen to work in partnership with us and other agencies to plan events for the future and create a positive impact on the estate. They are developing skills that they will find useful in the future, which can only contribute to their success".
