PHA builds 5000th home

Portsmouth Housing Association has marked an important milestone and delivered its 5000th home.

Portsmouth Housing Association has delivered its 5000th home. The home is at its latest development in Paulsgrove, a 1.75 million pound redevelopment of a former public house site.

The occasion was marked with a commemorative plaque by the guest of honour, Portsmouth North MP Sarah McCarthy-Fry.

The 5000th home is owned by Richard and Helen Milner through shared ownership.

Sarah McCarthy-Fry MP acknowledged the important contribution PHA has made to the communities of Portsmouth and South East Hampshire since its formation in 1973 and in particular the recent redevelopment of the Paulsgrove area.

Ben Stoneham, Chair of PHA said:

'We are committed to playing a major role in the partnerships in South Hampshire to assist the local authorities in creating the sustainable communities of the future.

'We do much more than just provide homes. Our local links and experience enables us to provide a range of services in response to local needs and to improve the quality of life in neighbourhoods. We strengthen the community and voluntary sector through supporting the development of community led organisations.

'The greatest need in South Hampshire is for more affordable rented homes. But the fact our 5000th home is a shared ownership property reflects local people’s aspirations and the importance of developing a mixture of tenures that support choice and strengthens communities.'
